Introduction Bettylouise

I am a Senior Citzen. I have read all my life. Currently I an reading mostly mysteries. I like cozies. This web is new to me. Since I am looking my eyesight, I read mostly on my Kindle. I do have paperback books to read when my Kindle is charging. This year I decided to write reviews and have been putting them on Amazon and Goodreads.

I do not have a Facebook or Twitter accounts. I do have a Google+ one and belong to Yahoo reading groups. Married over 50 years. I do have a Bengal Cat named Kato who is now 11 years.

Recently I have found 3  New authors that I enjoy. One is Karen Musser Nortman. She has a camping series out. The first one is BATS AND BONES. The one I like is THE BLUE COYOTE. The other one is PEETE AND REPETE.

I will discuss the other later.

Nine Lives to Die - Rita Mae Brown

Another good visit with Harry and Mrs Murphy. Harry and Fair are helping with fund rising for Silver Linnings, a boy's camp for problem boys. They are delivering goods to the needy collected by the area's churches. While out exploring Mrs. Murphy and Tucker watch a coyote carrying am arm bone away. The arm has a glittering objects that fall off the arm. The object a gold bracelet and the animals decided to give it Harry for Christmas. Mrs Murphy works to get the coyote to tell them where he found the arm. They find a skeleton with a tree growing through it. Meantime two of the Silver Linnings' patrons are found dead each with 2 missing fingers. Harry most find out how these event are connected.
The conversations between the animals is delightful especially the one between Mrs Murphy and Odin, the coyote.

A Thyme to Die (Peggy Lee Garden Mystery) (Volume 6) - James Lavene

The garden information and forensics are good. However, I not happy with way the story is going now.
Peggy has worked to bring the International Garden Show to Charlotte and she is in charge. Before it opens one of her online friends from Africa is found buried in a bed of thyme in one of the exhibits and hid exhibit is trash. Because of the foreign countries involved the FBI is in charge. Peggy hears from Nightflyer. Peggy needs to solve this death so the flower show is successful.

Sidney Chambers and the Problem of Evil - James Runcie

Romance, mystery and theology in this book. Sidney Chambers and Inspector Keating work to solve 4 mysteries. The book was hard to start the series as I didn't know the characters. They were interesting and I found most easy to like.

A Witch in Time - Madelyn Alt Maggie is headed for Marcus house for the evening and she gets a message that Mel is in labour. They head for the hospital. It is a long evening and Maggie overheards a strange message while strand in the elevator ai. She meets a woman who has just had a baby and gets involved in another murder. What did the message mean and was the birth of the baby involved in the killing. Grandpa G adds much to the story.

Home For A Spell

Home for a Spell  - Madelyn Alt Maggie accepts the unwelcome news that she must wear her cast for another 4 weeks and decides it is time to look for a new apartment. Stephanie is marrying and moving out of town. Marcus is starting classes. She finds an apartment and returning Marcus to sign the leash; they finds the manager dead. Because computers are involved Tom asked Marcus to help with the investigation. Maggie answer the question who and why the manger was killed.

Murder on Gramercy Park - Victoria Thompson Like historical books The Gaslight Mysteries will take you back to the turn of the century to learn about life in New York City. Sarah Brandt a midwife and Irish Detective Frank Mallory meet at MURDER sites where Sarah is delivering a baby. All sections of society are shown. The relationship between Frank and Sarah continues to grow with each book. In this book Sarah is called to help deliver a baby after Mrs Blackwell discovers her husband dead. Sarah works to help Frank solve the murder and prevent a scandal. The spiral turns the story takes are unusual and will surprise you.

Burndt HOUSE

The Burnt House - Faye Kellerman Excitement, suspense and good police work is always found in Rina and Peter books. This one is no different. A plane crashes into a apartment Dector's district. There is no record of Rosanne Dresden of boarding the plane though she is list as kill in the crash. As the recovery continues Roseanne is not found. Everyone is excited when a woman's body is found. It was first assumed to Roseanne. However it is not. We have unknown victim and 2 murder cases to solve. The twist and turns are great and keep.you entrance.

Flash & Bones

Flash and Bones - Kathy Reichs Good information on the forensic study of bones written to keep the readers interested. This one takes place Charlotte and the body is stuff in a barrel with cement pour over it. Tempe starts to prepare the body only to have the FBI seize and destroy it. Who was the body and why the FBI has blocked all efforts to find out. This takes during Race Week at the Speedway. The forensic detail are quite detail.

Razing The Dead

Razing the Dead - Sheila Connolly A nice addition to the Museum mysteries. The characters continued to evolve and new ones being added to flesh out the story. Nell and James affair is developing nicely. Nell is visited by a contractor who wants her help to search out the history of a plot of land is plans to build a model community. The next day showing Nell the land they find a body on the plot. The contractor Mr Wakeman calls in the FBI and James is assign the case. Dogs are brought in to search the area and find 2 more bodies. The subplots are nicely tied together and it is relaxing and enjoyable read

Lethal Lilies Peggy Lee Garden series

I am delighted to see additional books to the Peggy Lee Series. I enjoy the botanical descriptions both the forensic and garden information. The characters have continue to become and add to the story. Peggy has a note from Nightflyer that this person has some information on the death of her first husband. Harry says his notes are in storage. Peggy agrees to help him find the answer to his wife death and he will assist her her in her husband death. Before the investigation can start Peggy finds Harry DEAD from a botanical poison. Mia is is close to given birth of her first grandchild and Paul wants help her find the answer to his father death. The book has several twists and turns and the ending is a surprise. This is a must read series and I recommend it highly.

Buried By Buttercups (Peggy Lee Garden Mystery) - Joyce Lavene, Jim Lavene This cozy mystery about Peggy Lee a botanist who does a lot of experiments with plants specializing in poison plants. She teaches at an university, consult with police and co-owns a garden shop. This brings all books of the series together. Murders are occurring near her and plant poisons are being used. This is a favorite series and looking forward to read more.

Inspector Hobbes & the Curse

Inspector Hobbes and the Curse - Wilkie Martin This is a new author for me as I don't usually read paranormal. I found the print easy to see. The story moved along fast. The characters intrigued me and keep my interest throughout the book. I didn't want to put it down. Question in my mind about Inspector Hobbes; is human? Andy an unemployed journalist narrates the story in first person and by his own actions he is always in trouble. Mrs G is a delightful individual. Even Leads, the dogs adds to the story. The descriptions of the animals and the area is well down. Pheasants are being found with their heads ripped off and sheep with their throats slashed. Reports of large blacks are circulating. Andy falls for a girl and is delighted that she asked him out to dinner. Inspector Hobbes is looking into the death of person who's throaty was slashed. Last Licks - Claire Donally

Sunny receives a call that Ollie Barnstable is in the hospital with a broken leg. Ollie goes to an exclusive rehab danger to recover. His roommate dies and it appears to be a natural death. Ollie insists that it was MURDER. Sunny and Willl Price have 6 days to prove it is murder. Shadow spends days trying to get out of the house and back inside until he smells an exciting scent on Sunny and is determined to find the shecat. This is a great cozy romance mystery. I will be looking for more of Shadow's adventures.

Boiled Over

This is the 2nd book in this new cozy series on a clambake on island off the coast of Maine The clambake has moved to Busman Harbor for the Founder's Day Celebration. A new device was created to cook the clams. To everyone's horror a brunt leg is seem in the fire. As Juila Snowdone become involved in the investigation she see events that happen are changing and are interpreted different now.Involved in the murder and Juila feels too many people are inclined to feel that Cabe is guilty and sets out to prove him innocent.She finds no one is living under their correct name and most have tries to an old fraud case.

Murdermobile

Murdermobile (A Portland Bookmobile Mystery) - B.B. Cantwell

A new cozy mystery and romance where protagonist is a Librarian on the Bookmobile. This one of the best descriptions of a major city library I have read. Preparing for the day's run Hester and Prim discover the body of the former head librarian DEAD in a closet of the Bookmobile. PRIM is charged with the murder. Hester works with Darrow the lead homicide inspector to clear Prim. I will read the next one in the series.

Murder At Monticello

Three Mrs. Murphy Mysteries: Wish You Were Here; Rest in Pieces; Murder at Monticello - Rita Mae Brown, Wendy Wray, Sneaky Pie Brown

The Harry and friends are investigating a murder that occurred in the 1800s at Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's home. Archaeology of the slave housing is occurring and a body is found under the foundations. The cold case is well written and interesting and how relates to present. Mrs Murphy, Tucker and Pewtor are secondary characters to the main plot.
